Convert WooCommerce products to a Shopify CSV in four steps.

1. In WordPress, open Products and click Export. Keep all columns and all product types, and tick Export custom meta if you use Yoast SEO or Rank Math, because that is where your SEO titles and descriptions live. Download the CSV.

2. Upload the file above. The converter reads WooCommerce's own export format: list values joined with commas, commas inside a value escaped with a backslash, categories written as Parent > Child, and variations that point to their parent by SKU or by ID.

3. Choose what happens to categories, the product type, short descriptions and drafts. The result updates as you change an option, and a list underneath shows every product that needs a look after the import, with the reason.

4. Download the Shopify CSV. In the Shopify admin, open Products, click Import, and upload it. The headers are Shopify's current column names, so nothing needs mapping by hand.

How WooCommerce fields map to Shopify.

The two platforms store a catalog in different shapes. WooCommerce exports a variable product as one parent row plus a row for each variation. Shopify wants every variant on its own row under one handle, with the product's details on the first row and extra images on rows of their own. The converter rebuilds each product like this:

WooCommerceShopify
Name and DescriptionTitle and Description, with the short description placed above it if you choose

Variable product and its variationsOne product with a variant per variation, up to three options

What Shopify does differently, and what the converter does about it.

Shopify allows three options per product. WooCommerce allows as many variation attributes as you like, so a product with four or five is flagged and keeps its first three; the usual fix is to merge two attributes into one option, such as Size and Fit into a single Size option. Attributes that only describe a product, like Material on a simple mug, have no CSV column in Shopify, so they are listed for you to add later as metafields.

Shopify has no categories either. Products are grouped into collections, and the quickest way to rebuild your category structure is to add each category as a tag and create automated collections that match on that tag. That is what the default setting does. The deepest level of the product's first category also becomes its Shopify product type, which helps with filters and reports.

Grouped and external (affiliate) products have no Shopify equivalent and are left out with a note. Downloadable products come across as products that don't need shipping, but the files themselves have to be attached with a digital downloads app. Scheduled sale dates are dropped, because Shopify's CSV has no sale schedule, and WooCommerce's "any value" variations are expanded, since every Shopify variant needs a fixed option value.

Importing into Shopify without surprises.

Shopify downloads every image from your WordPress media library while it imports, so keep the WooCommerce site online until the import has finished and the images show in the Shopify admin. Run a small test first: delete all but five products from the CSV, including one variable product, import them, and check their variants, prices, stock and images before importing the rest.

Each product gets a Shopify handle made from its name, because WooCommerce's export doesn't include the product slug. If your old product URLs used different slugs, make a list of old and new addresses and set up 301 redirects with the migration redirect generator, so search rankings and old links follow your products to Shopify.

Customers, orders, reviews and redirects are a separate job.

A product CSV only covers the catalog. Customer accounts, order history, product reviews, coupons and blog posts are stored differently on each platform and need their own export and import, and customers can't bring their WordPress passwords to Shopify, so they set a new one on first login.

If you'd rather have the whole store moved and checked by hand, my WooCommerce to Shopify migration service covers products, customers, orders, reviews, blog posts and redirects for a fixed price after a free audit, at about half of typical agency prices. It uses my own migration app, built for exactly this move.

WooCommerce to Shopify CSV Converter FAQs

Is the WooCommerce to Shopify converter free?+

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and has no product limit. The conversion runs in your browser, so very large catalogs depend on your computer's memory, not on a paid plan.

Does it convert variable products and variations?+

Yes. Each variable product becomes one Shopify product, and each variation becomes a variant with its own option values, SKU, price, compare-at price, stock, weight and image. Shopify allows up to three options per product, and anything beyond that is flagged.

Will my SEO titles and meta descriptions come across?+

Yes, if you tick Export custom meta when exporting from WooCommerce. The converter reads the Yoast SEO and Rank Math title and description fields and puts them in Shopify's SEO title and SEO description columns, trimmed to Shopify's 70 and 320 character limits.

Are my product images moved?+

The CSV contains your image URLs, and Shopify downloads the images during the import. Keep the WordPress site online until the import is done.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?+

No. The file is read and converted in your browser, and nothing is sent to a server or stored.

Can it move customers and orders to Shopify?+

No, this tool converts products only. Customers, orders, reviews and redirects are part of a full migration, which I do as a fixed-price service.
