Who is responsible
This website, bealinawaz.com, is run by Ali Nawaz, a software developer based in Lahore, Pakistan. I decide how the personal data described here is used. For any privacy question or request, email bealinawaz@gmail.com.
What I collect
When you send the contact form
- The details you type: your name, email address, optional phone number, company, project type, budget range, and message.
- Technical details sent with the form: the page you sent it from, the referring page, your IP address, and your browser, operating system, and device type.
- Your approximate city, region, and country, looked up from your IP address through the ipwho.is service.
When you browse the website
- If analytics is allowed, Google Analytics records pages viewed, how you arrived, your approximate location, device and browser details, and how you interact with pages. See cookies below.
- Like any web host, my hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses and requested pages, for security and troubleshooting.
I do not ask for sensitive information, and I do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
Why I use it
- To reply to your enquiry and discuss a project with you. This is necessary to take steps you ask for before a possible contract, and it is in my legitimate interest to answer business enquiries.
- To protect the contact form from spam and abuse, using the technical details and rate limiting. This is my legitimate interest in keeping the service working.
- To understand which pages are useful through Google Analytics, only with your consent where the law requires it, such as in the UK and EU.
I do not sell or share your personal data for advertising, and I do not use it for automated decisions about you.
Who receives it
- Namecheap, my hosting provider, stores the website and the contact form submissions on its servers.
- Google receives analytics data if you allow it, and contact form notifications are delivered to my Gmail inbox. Emails are sent directly from my web server.
- ipwho.is receives your IP address when you send the contact form, to return your approximate location.
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. I am based in Pakistan, so your enquiry is also handled there. Where UK or EU law applies, these transfers rely on the providers' standard safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long I keep it
- Contact form submissions and emails are kept until you ask me to delete them.
- Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics, at most 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Server logs are kept for the period set by my hosting provider.
Cookies
The website itself needs no cookies to work. Google Analytics uses two cookies, _ga and _ga_Q59N737RMK, to tell visits apart. They last up to two years.
- In the UK, the EU and EEA, and Switzerland, these cookies are only set after you choose Accept analytics.
- Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and you can turn it off with Decline.
Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the name an-analytics-consent, so you are not asked again. You can change it at any time: .
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, object to or restrict how I use it, and withdraw consent at any time. California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct their personal information, and are not discriminated against for using these rights. I do not sell or share personal information as defined by California law.
To make a request, email bealinawaz@gmail.com. I reply within one month. If you are in the UK or EU, you can also complain to your data protection authority, such as the ICO in the UK.
Changes
If this policy changes, I will update this page and the date at the top.
