WordPress theme detector and plugin detector.

Enter any website to see whether it runs WordPress, which theme it uses (with the theme's real name, version and author, and the parent theme behind a child theme) and which plugins load on its home page. It's free, works without a browser extension, and links each plugin to its WordPress.org page when it has one.

How the detector finds a WordPress theme.

WordPress loads a theme's stylesheets and scripts from a folder named after the theme, and every theme describes itself at the top of its style.css file: its name, version, author and, for a child theme, the parent theme it builds on. The detector reads the site's home page, finds the theme folders it loads from, then reads that header, so you see a real name such as Astra or Kadence rather than just a folder name.

Plugins work the same way. Most plugins that change the front of a site load files from their own folder, and many also announce themselves in the page, as Yoast SEO, Rank Math and WooCommerce do. The detector lists each plugin it finds and links free plugins to WordPress.org, where you can read their reviews and install them.

What each result tells you.

The answer usually takes a few seconds:

ResultWhat it means
Theme name, version, authorRead from the theme's own style.css header
Child theme of …The site customises a parent theme; install the parent to get the base design
Folder name onlyThe theme's details are hidden or its style.css is blocked
Plugins foundPlugins that load files or markers on the home page
No WordPress.org pageUsually a premium plugin, sold on its developer's own site
Not WordPressThe detector names the platform when it recognises it, such as Shopify, Wix or Squarespace

Why some plugins don't show up.

A plugin only shows up if it loads something on the home page. Security, backup, caching and admin-only plugins work behind the scenes and are invisible from outside, and performance plugins that combine and rename files can hide theme and plugin folders altogether. Some sites block automated visits; the detector tells you when that happens instead of guessing.

Each check reads the public home page once and returns only the detected names. Nothing is stored, and checks are rate-limited so the service stays fast for everyone.

Building a site like the one you checked.

Knowing the theme and plugins gets you the base, but most standout WordPress sites are a theme plus custom work: templates, Elementor layouts, WooCommerce changes and plugins written for that business. I've built custom WordPress sites and published 14 open-source plugins, and I can build the parts a theme doesn't give you, with a fixed quote after a free review.

WordPress Theme & Plugin Detector FAQs

How do I find out what WordPress theme a site is using?+

Enter the site's address above. The detector finds the theme folder the site loads and reads the theme's name, version and author from its style.css header. If it's a child theme, it also shows the parent theme.

Can it show which plugins a WordPress site uses?+

Yes, for plugins that load files or markers on the home page, such as page builders, sliders, forms, SEO plugins and WooCommerce. Plugins that only work in the admin or on other pages can't be seen from outside.

Why does it only show a folder name for the theme?+

Some sites block access to the theme's style.css or rename theme folders for security. The folder name is often enough to search for the theme.

What if the site isn't WordPress?+

The detector says so, and names the platform when it can recognise it, such as Shopify, Wix, Squarespace or Webflow. For Shopify stores it also shows the theme and apps.

Does it work on sites built with Elementor?+

Yes. Elementor sites still use a WordPress theme, often Hello Elementor or Astra, and the detector lists Elementor and Elementor Pro among the plugins when their files load. The layout itself is built in Elementor, so the theme alone won't recreate the design.

Is the WordPress theme detector free?+

Yes. It's free with no sign-up. Each visitor can run up to 20 checks every 10 minutes.
