Migration cost calculator: what it does.
This free calculator answers the two cost questions behind a WooCommerce to Shopify migration, or the move back: what the store will cost to run each month after the move, and what the migration itself has to cover. Enter your current hosting, plugins and payment fees, pick a Shopify plan, and you get the monthly and yearly difference, plus a scope summary you can send for a fixed quote.
How it works
Two costs: running the store, and moving it.
A platform move has a one-time cost and a running cost, and most estimates only talk about the first. The calculator handles the running cost with your own numbers. On the WooCommerce side that's hosting, paid plugins and themes, and your payment provider's card fees. On the Shopify side it's the plan, paid apps, card fees and, if you don't use Shopify Payments, Shopify's extra transaction fee. Add your monthly sales and order count and it works out what each platform costs you per month and per year.
The one-time cost depends on what has to move, so the calculator doesn't invent a price for it. Instead it turns your products, customers, past orders, posts and pages, and features such as reviews or subscriptions, into a short scope summary. That summary is what any developer needs before giving you a real quote.
| Input | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Online sales and orders per month | WooCommerce Analytics, or Shopify Analytics, averaged over the last few months |
| Hosting | Your hosting invoice. Managed WordPress hosts bill monthly or yearly |
| Paid plugins, theme and apps | Yearly licences divided by 12, plus monthly subscriptions |
| Card rate and fixed fee | Your Stripe, PayPal or WooPayments statement, or your plan's rate on shopify.com/pricing |
| Shopify plan price | Filled in with the US price; change it if your country's price differs |
| Products, customers, orders, pages | The counts in your store's admin |
Shopify plans
Shopify plan prices used by the calculator.
The calculator starts from Shopify's US prices as listed on shopify.com/pricing in November 2026: Basic at $19 a month paid yearly or $25 paid monthly, Grow at $49 or $65, and Advanced at $299 or $399. Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a longer term, so stores at that level need a proper quote rather than a calculator. Shopify shows prices and card rates by country, which is why the plan price can be overwritten and the card rate is left for you to enter.
If you accept payments through another provider instead of Shopify Payments, Shopify adds its own transaction fee on top of that provider's fees. The rate depends on your plan and your location, and Shopify's help center sends merchants to the pricing page for their country's figure. Untick "I'll use Shopify Payments" and enter it, and the calculator adds it to every month's sales.
Reading the result
What the monthly difference tells you, and what it doesn't.
A higher running cost on Shopify isn't automatically a reason to stay on WooCommerce, and a lower one isn't a reason to move. Stores usually move to Shopify to stop managing hosting, updates, security and plugin conflicts, and move to WooCommerce for full control of the code, the checkout and the data. The calculator puts a number on the money side so that decision is made with facts.
Look at the yearly figure next to the one-time migration cost. If the move saves $150 a month, a migration that costs a few thousand dollars pays for itself within a couple of years. If the move costs more each month, the reason to move has to be time saved or sales gained, and it's worth being honest about whether that's true for your store.
What moves the quote
What changes the one-time cost of a migration.
Product count matters less than people expect. Variants matter more, because WooCommerce attributes and Shopify options work differently, and Shopify allows up to three options per product. Customer accounts can move, but password hashes can't, so customers set a new password or sign in with a code. Order history, product reviews, subscriptions and wholesale prices each need their own tool or app, and integrations with an ERP, warehouse or CRM have to be rebuilt on the new platform.
Redirects are the part that protects your search traffic. Every product, category, post and page URL changes in a WooCommerce to Shopify move, because Shopify uses fixed prefixes such as /products/ and /collections/. The summary estimates how many redirects you'll need, and my free migration redirect generator builds the file.

From summary to a fixed quote.
Copy the summary and send it through the contact form. I look at the store for free, reply within 24 hours with questions or a fixed quote in US dollars, and the work starts with a test migration on a development store, so you check products, customers and redirects before the live move. Projects start at $500, payment is 50% in advance and 50% on delivery, and every migration includes 15 days of free support after launch.
Questions
Store Migration Cost Calculator FAQs
How much does it cost to migrate from WooCommerce to Shopify?+
It depends on what has to move: variants, customers, order history, reviews, subscriptions, integrations and the number of URLs to redirect. Use the calculator to build the scope, then send it for a fixed quote. My projects start at $500, and the audit is free.
Is Shopify more expensive than WooCommerce to run?+
Sometimes. WooCommerce itself is free, but you pay for hosting, plugins and maintenance; Shopify charges a plan fee and apps, and includes hosting and security. Enter your own numbers above to see which is cheaper for your store.
Why doesn't the calculator include Shopify's card rates?+
Shopify sets card rates and third-party transaction fees by country and plan. Entering your own rate from shopify.com/pricing keeps the result accurate wherever you sell.
Does Shopify charge a fee if I don't use Shopify Payments?+
Yes. When you use a third-party payment provider, Shopify adds a transaction fee that depends on your plan and location, on top of the provider's own fees. Shopify Payments, Shop Pay and manual methods such as bank transfer don't carry it.
Can customer passwords be moved to Shopify?+
No. Password hashes can't be imported into Shopify, so customers set a new password or sign in with a one-time code after the move. Their accounts, addresses and order history can still be migrated.
Is the calculator free, and is my data stored?+
It's free with no sign-up, and everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere or saved.
